Caroline Doody

National Operations Manager

Caroline has 20 years of experience in Brain Injury Rehabilitation, and her background has been in Counselling and Senior Management. She is excited about her new role as the National Operations Manager at Evolve Rehabilitation and is looking forward to sharing her knowledge and experience with the team.

She is passionate about giving “Hope” back into our client’s life with the mindset of focusing on the “Best Solution” at all times.

Caroline enjoys working with diverse people and embracing all the beautiful cultures they bring into her everyday life.

Anel Owen

South Auckland & Whangarei Facility Coordinator

Anel Owen is Facility Coordinator at Evolve Rehabilitation South Auckland.

Born and bred in South Africa, Anel immigrated to NZ 3 years ago with her husband and settled in Auckland. With her background in finance and a client focused approach, Anel grabbed the opportunity to apply for the position as Facility Coordinator to make a difference in her client’s lives. Anel is a valued part of our team and a great Facility Coordinator. She is excited about the recent transition to Evolution Healthcare.

Outside of work, Anel is a real animal lover and keeps herself busy with crochet projects.

Amandeep Sandhu

Hastings Facility Coordinator

Amandeep was born and brought up in India. She completed a Physiotherapy Degree in India, and the went on to work in a multi-specialty hospital as a physio.

She then came to New Zealand where she completed her Postgraduate Diploma in Musculoskeletal Medicine from Auckland University of Technology (AUT). Amandeep then started working with Brain Injury Rehab in 2007.

“I am now based in beautiful Hawkes Bays enjoying working with brain injury clients and a beautiful family.”

Lezani Meyer

Hamilton Facility Coordinator

Lezani immigrated to New Zealand 15 years ago and has been with the company for the past 12 years (Abano – Bupa – Evolve).

“I’m passionate about my work, like to take on challenges and purposely work on a better version of me everyday.
I have an amazing team of people and love what we do to help our clients regain new levels of independence. I also love baking and catching the biggest fish!”

Kimberley Leng

West Auckland Facility Coordinator

Born and raised in New Zealand, Kim is of Cambodian Chinese Heritage and is passionate about providing equitable healthcare to all.
Kim has a background in Health Sciences and has spent her career supporting people with disabilities.

“I’m driven to contribute to and build a healthcare system that is accessible and views health in a holistic lens. I’m looking forward to working with the clients at Evolution Healthcare to make sure I’m catering for all whānau and their unique needs”

Mereana Whanarere

Gisborne Facility Coordinator

Mereana was born in Gisborne and raised in a beautiful coastal village called Whangara.
Her and her husband moved to Biloela, Qld, Australia in 1999, then to Brisbane in 2001 where they raised a family of 5. They then returned home in 2019 to be closer to Mereana’s mum.

“My background is in Rehabilitation and Aged Care and I strongly believe everyone deserves a better quality of life, and I am very passionate about how that care is provided.
I love that I am able to interact daily with the clients and that they trust they can talk to me anytime if needed. I am excited about evolving with Evolution Healthcare and making a difference.”

Zigma Zigma

Palmerston North Facility Coordinator

Zigma was born and brought up in India. Came to New Zealand in 2017 and was in Auckland for 5 years. A Dentist by profession & still runs her business back in India.

Zigma enjoys new Challenges and loves to do something new every day – always aiming to do better and to be better. She also enjoys working with multicultural team, exploring new places and doing art & crafts.

Sue Channon

Chief Executive Officer

Sue Channon is an established healthcare industry leader with a well-earned reputation for delivering business excellence and growth. Before her appointment to CEO Evolution Healthcare in April 2020, Sue spent more than 20 years in chief executive roles. She most recently was Group Chief Executive at Virtus Health (Virtus), Australia’s leading provider of assisted reproductive services. Sue joined Virtus as Chief Executive in 2004 and lead the growth of Virtus during private ownership, Australian expansion and a successful listing on the Australian stock exchange (ASX) which saw Virtus become the first publicly listed fertility business globally, followed by accelerated international expansion.

Sue’s track record of establishing and growing new services and attracting and retaining doctors is well known, underpinned by her deep clinical knowledge, particularly within fertility, hospitals and diagnostic services. Sue has a reputation as a decisive and impactful leader whose style is collaborative as she supports her team to deliver improvements in operational performance and business growth.

Stephen Johnston

Chief Operations Officer

Stephen Johnston has held senior management positions in various Australian Healthcare organisations over the past 20 years. Prior to joining Evolution Healthcare as Chief Operating Officer in September 2019, Stephen was a Director at Sydney Adventist Hospital, this position saw him lead a multidisciplinary team in building and developing the supporting staff and infrastructure of one of Australia’s largest Private Hospitals.

During Stephen’s five years with Evolution Healthcare, Stephen has transitioned from the General Manager/DON of Waratah Private Hospital in NSW. Under his direction he commissioned the Rehabilitation Centre at Waratah Hospital including a modern gym and hydrotherapy pool with growth in both inpatient and day rehabilitation services developing the Hospital into its future as the centre for rehabilitation excellence in South/West Sydney.

Ben Thynne


Over the past fifteen years, Ben Thynne has gained significant experience in acquiring, redeveloping and managing private hospitals with a focus of delivering excellence in healthcare. Prior to founding Evolution in 2011, Ben was the Founder and Managing Director of Healthe Care Australia. Under Ben’s management, Healthe Care became Australia’s largest privately-owned network of private hospitals. For several years Ben was a director of the Australian Private Hospitals Association. Ben’s qualifications include a Bachelor of Law and a Graduate Diploma in Finance and Investment. He has been admitted to the Supreme Court of Queensland.

Richard Grenfell

Medical Director / Director

With over 35 years as a specialist Anaesthetist, Richard Grenfell founded Boulcott Hospital in Wellington, serving as founding Chairman and CEO. He has been intimately involved in the operational management whilst elevating the medical and surgical capability of the hospital since its inception. Richard stepped down from his role as Chairman in 2005 and as Managing Director in June 2015. He was a Director of Wakefield Hospital from 1989 to 1997 and is currently the Medical Director and a Director of Evolution Healthcare.

Paul Keleghan OBE

Group Chief Information Officer

Paul Keleghan has over 25 years’ experience designing and delivering information and change capabilities that enhance the provision of services, with an overriding focus on making things easier for customers and internal clients. Paul’s background includes the delivery of initiatives to improve the patient and clinical experience having previously held the role of CIO at Pacific Radiology, where he advanced the application of artificial intelligence to augment the work of sonographers and radiologists. He is responsible for leading all information service functions, whose collective remit is to enhance clinical outcomes as well improving the patient experience. Paul’s qualifications include a Master’s degree in information systems, complimented by an MBA, specialising in e-commerce.

Matthew Clarke

Chief Financial Officer

Matthew Clarke brings extensive experience providing strategic financial leadership across a portfolio of businesses with over 20 years of experience in finance and commercial management roles across the services and resources sectors. Returning to New Zealand in 2019 after 15 years spent mostly in the UK and Australia, Matthew has previously held senior finance positions with global quality assurance provider Intertek Group, including Group Treasurer in London and most recently Regional CFO based in Sydney.
